Ehsaan - Digital Marketing Apprentice at a pharmaceutical company

We spoke to one of our apprentices Ehsaan, to find out how he's getting on in his apprenticeship. Ehsaan works for a pharmaceutical company as a digital marketing apprentice. Ehsaan previously studied Computer Science at University and has now progressed onto our digital marketing apprenticeship course and is now 5 months into his apprenticeship, here's what he said:

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship after university?

I wanted to get a foot into the tech industry. I strongly believed that an apprenticeship would be the best opportunity to do this. Being proficient in coding, I wanted to get an understanding of the digital aspect of technology.

How would you say an apprenticeship is different to university?

With a digital marketing apprenticeship, there is much more flexibility in terms of constantly keeping up to date with the latest in technology.  It has also unlocked the ability to gain industry contacts with different people. Networking is a key aspect of any job you do. With the right connections, you are able climb higher in the “corporate ladder”. On the other hand, with university, this isn’t the case. It is more theory based and a constant measure of how well you are able to remember information.

" I have the opportunity to learn a lot more every day, whilst at the same time applying what I have learnt to a real life scenario."

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I mostly enjoy meeting other apprentices. It is good to network with people who are in a similar field as to you. One day you may be working together, or even stuck on a specific part and you are able to reach out to your connections and see if they are able to help in any way.

I also enjoy learning different aspects of digital marketing. For example, SEO. The apprenticeship covers a wide range of topics in relation to digital marketing. It helps to better understand what is involved in digital marketing and what specific sector you would like to become proficient in.

"Since the start of my apprenticeship, I believe I have progressed extremely well."

How do you think you have progressed since the start of your apprenticeship?

The knowledge I have gained throughout my time at work, it has opened many doors for me in terms of understanding what and where I would like to be in the next upcoming years.

What are your daily tasks and how have they changed since the start of your apprenticeship?

My tasks as a Digital Marketing Assistant covers areas such as Social Media Management, Email Marketing, Internal Communication, WordPress Development, SEO, Graphic Design, Coding / API Integration into different platforms, SEO Rich Content Writing, Monthly Social Media Reports, Keyword Research, and Competitor Analysis.

What do you plan on doing after your apprenticeship?

After my apprenticeship, I am hoping to stay on with the company I am currently with, moving up the ladder, towards a digital marketing executive/manager or an SEO specialist.
